Phetogo Kubheka;s journey as a Sales Executive to a Key Account Manager, in the events and exhibition sector has been an example to many on how transformation can be achieved in this sector. With over 14 years of experience in the MICE sector, Mrs Kubheka’s 2018 selection as one of the top 40 women in MICE is one that the Synergy Business Events shareholders can be proud of. As a former AAXO board member, Phetogo’s particular interests in large scale exhibitions and her knowledge of the industry has contributed to the successes achieved with our clients. Today Phetogo’s occupies the role of leading the Operations at Synergy Business Events which includes ensuring that we meet our delivery obligations. Whilst, project implementation is one the corner stones of the business. Phetogo and the operations team, apply their certified Prince2 project delivery methodology as a principle. Phetogo joins the Synergy Business Events leadership team with her expertise in maintaining relationships with suppliers and industry stakeholders as well as executing best practice trade and consumer events.

Martina Komane was appointed chairperson of the Scan Display BEE Trust in 2002. As chairperson of the trust, she oversees the investment of the trust in Synergy Business Events on behalf of its beneficiaries. These beneficiaries included individuals who are previously disadvantaged: • Martina Komane • Sharon Heuvel • Keorapetse Mangadi • Mogamat Rashaad Small • Moses Nefale Since 2020, the Scan Display BEE Trust has had a 40% shareholding in Synergy Business Events. Currently Martina holds a directorship position in Synergy Business Events.

Tiisetso Tau

Founding Director

Tiisetso Tau is the founder of Tau Management Consulting, a 100% black-owned strategic advisory company. Tau Management Consulting was formed with the purpose of creating a management and sales consultancy. One of Tau Management Consulting’s milestone projects was the development of the Suzuki Dealer Management System, upon the return of Suzuki to the South African economy. Tiisetso is one of the founding members of Scan on Show, which was formed in 2010. Through Tau Management Consulting, Tiisetso approached the directors of On Show Solutions and Scan Display, as part of a vision to start a majority black-owned MICE SMME which would compete in the exhibitions sector. In 2015, Scan on Show was rebranded as Synergy Business Events. As the majority shareholder of Synergy Business Events, Tiisetso was appointed Managing Director. Recently in the 2020 financial year, Tau Management Consulting, embarked on a name change to Change Management Agency (CMA). The name change will now allow the business to diversify into other business ventures within the Advertising, International VAT refund and Brand Activations sectors. As a member of the South African Events Council, Tiisetso is passionate about enterprise development and ensuring that the MICE industry becomes a shared and inclusive sector. Through the South African Events Council, Tiisetso has been a driving force in ensuring the sector is acknowledged through the re-opening guidelines.
